Monday, June 16th, 2008 -- Short Writings

Hello again everyone. Here are couple of the short writings I did while in Ghana. I'm currently working on typing out my journal entries, so I'll keep you posted once they're up. Read, and enjoy!

“Human nature is not found in individuals as a unit common to all, which the meaning of universal requires. It follows that the notion of species belongs to human nature as it exists in the intellect.”
-pg 39- -Thomas Aquinas- -Selected Writings- -Chapter 3: “On Being and Essence”-

What Thomas Aquinas is trying to state here is that once we learn more about ourselves, we’ll learn more about human nature. If we look into ourselves and study ourselves, we can learn more about human nature. Human nature is intelligence. Intelligence is human nature. God put us on this plant we call Earth to rule. We rule Earth by our capability of our minds. How should we use our minds? To glorify God. It’s human nature to glorify God.

“If, however, there is given a thing which is existence alone, subsisting existence itself, this existence would not receive the addition of a difference, since it would not then be existence alone but existence along with some form.”
-pg 42- -Thomas Aquinas- -Selected Writings- -Chapter 3: “On Being and Essence”-

No such thing can exist alone but one mighty power. The mighty power I’m talking about is God. God is the only power to exist on His own. Us humans can’t exist on our own. God created us. God created us in His image (Genesis 1:26). How can we exist on our own if God creates us to look like Him? We can’t. It’s that simple. Children can’t survive without their parents. Animals can’t live if we quit feeding them. It’s the same with us. We’ll go out of existence if God quit caring for us. We can’t and won’t exist without God. God exist on His own.

-Eric Darsie- -Saturday, June 7th, 2008- -Accra, Ghana, Africa-

“A characteristic of the existence of God is that nothing can be added to it, hence it is distinct from every other existence by it’s own purity.”
-pg 44- -Thomas Aquinas- -Selected Writings- -Chapter 3: “On Being and Essence”-

Revelation 21:13 states: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” That was Jesus talking. He is the start and the finish. Nothing comes outside of God because he is everything. If God is everything, how can you add more to it? You can’t. God is infinite. God is everything. Nothing comes from nothing, and everything comes from God. No human can add to God. Only God can add things and take things away. Remember that.

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.”
-Psalm 55:22-

What does Psalm 55:22 mean? What does it mean to you? Psalm 55:22 means if we give God all our cares and worries, He will be there for us. God will take all our worries away if we let Him know of them and we surrender our lives to Him. Once you surrender everything to God, your thoughts, your eyes, your body, your everything, God won’t let you fail and He won’t let you fall. You are righteous in His eyes. Confess your sins once they happen. Live in His glory. Praise Him for everything in your life. God always will bring you up.

Thursday, June 12th, 2008 -- Back In Black and Better Than Ever

Hey everyone.

How are things? Things are great at my end. Yep. Got back yesterday, Wednesday, morning at 1:30 am. We were supposed to get back Tuesday night at 10:20, but there were Thunderstorms in New York City, which delayed us three hours. But it's really nice to be back in the States and it's nice to be back home in Minnesota. God taught me a lot while being in Ghana. God taught me patience, how to listen, and He showed me His love through couple of my Project members. When I get a chance, I'll post that up. I am planning on going through my journal and posting up my journal entries, which will take me a while to type out, due to the fact that I journaled everyday. I'll get a working on that as soon as I can. So I should have two more blogs up soon, hopefully within the next week or two. Give me two weeks, they should be up. But thanks everyone for the support and the prayers. Everyone made it home safe. Almost everyone got aboard the "D-Train" while in Ghana. I was aboard for six hours the first Saturday day. Just think what the "D-Train" is. Yeah, it's that.

Anyways, I'm gonna rap it up.

Thanks for checking this out.

Sorry for not e-mailing you all for my last blog, the internet I was using was super slow. Remember I was in Cape Coast at the time. Good times, though.

I'm out, stay classy, as always.

Monday, June 2, 2008 -- Waiting

Hey everyone, this wont be long, sorry, and sorry for it being two weeks being in Ghana and the first, and most likely only one while here, blog. We've been super busy helping out at the Polytechnic Campus here in Cape Coast. Everyone here is super friendly. My partner and I met a guy who took us into different rooms to share with people. But a lot of times, the vans that took us to places were 15 minutes late, and thats the earliest they would show up. What I've learned while being here so far is how to wait and keep my cool. My next blog, I'll let you know more about it.

Also, I'm red from the sun.
