Here's the rest of the first week's worth of journaling. Enjoy!

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008—Day 3

Today was a great day. Had a meeting at 9 this morning and learned some Twi, which is another language that the Ghanaians second language, I think. Anyways, then at 12:15 had an hour break. Mark, Mike, and I went to our room and talked for a while and tried to get some sleep. Then at 1:15 pm, we went to the University of Cape Coast. My partner for witnessing was Nate. What that fun. For the hour and a halfor so, we talked to about eight people. I think the highlight from witnessing today has to be meeting up with Jacob. I think he’s in room 118. Anyways, he brought us to tlak to six people. He just grabbed random people and brought us to different rooms to talk to people. That was a great experience. Sounds like Nate and I are gonna meet up with Jacob tomorrow and he’ll bring us to more people. I’m excited for tomorrow. I think it’s gonna to be hard to go back due to the time zones, going back, and the eleven hour plane ride back to New York City. One thing I’m looking forward on doing is listening to Jerry Lawler’s “Memphis, Tennessee.” I have the beginning of the song stuck in my head. And I’m really tired. It’s 8:36. Darn. When we get used to the city, we’ll probably have more to do with our freetime. On one of the plane rides over, people were talking about if we landed in cities or states, what song should be playing in the airport. That should be fun to do going back to New York City. Memphis should be Lawler’s “Memphis, Tennessee,” Kentucky should be Elvis’s “Kentucky Rain,” Miami should be Will Smith’s “Welcome to Miami.” Hollywood should be a song with the title being “Hollywood.” It’s lighting, here, in Cape Coast, Ghana. Woop! Woop! Anyways, I’m rapping this up… But, goodnight.

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008—Day 4

Had a good and fun day today. During the meeting this morning, the leg of my chair gave way and broke. I feel bad because that happened when Tamera was reading the bible to us. She started and I felt the leg of my chair start to twist, and then, CRACK! BOOM! I went down. It was funny for me to sit up and see Tamera’s facial expression. She had a shocked look on her face. Once I sat up, I said “I’m fine” and got up. Mike and Mark came over and gave me a new chair and took the broken chair. I asked Tamera and others about it later, they said it sounded like a gun shot going off. It was priceless seeing everyone’s facial expression once I sat up after going down. The only thing now I wish I would of done is just act like I was knocked out. But, didn’t do that, didn’t think of it in time. I shouldn’t of. That’s a good thing, because that would of freaked people out. But, thinking of it, Blake did say it made his day for that happening. It didn’t hurt. But now to campus. Nate and I talked to about nine more people today. They all were Christians. The people we met up with yesterday were Christians as well. Then Nate, Jake, and I worshiped with the Chancellor of campus. That was fun… But, anyway. Bed time. Good night.

Friday, May 23rd, 2008—Day5

Today was a pretty good day. After breakfast, had a meeting, the chair I sat in didn’t break on me. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but at least I was able to give people some good laughs off of that yesterday. I’ve been wondering if Ryan Schoepf got the job. How last week when I was in St. Cloud, he said he got the job, but they were in talks about salary. It would be nice to get on the internet sometime here in Ghana to know if he has the job or not. I’m excited to tell him how summer project is going for he can pass the work onto people in St. Cloud for me… But after the meeting, a bunch of us walked into town. That was a lot of fun. A little boy came up and held my hand in the market! That was different. That wouldn’t have happened back in the States. Then went back to campus. The two guys Nate and I talked to yesterday, we talked to for about an hour and a half. That was a lot of fun. Then we had a presentation this evening. There was a good turn-out for it tonight. I almost fell asleep during it. That would have been bad. But all-in-all, it was a good day and I’m looking forward on going to bed, here shortly. It’s humid over here, but I’m gonna rap this up to get to bed. Good night.

Saturday, May 24th, 2008—Day 6

On Tuesday it’s the 27th. It would be four years since Grandpa passed away. It doesn’t seem like four years. But before I sat down to write, I stopped at room 210 and sung a Boy George song, well, I know the lyrics, not the song title, but I sung, “Do you really want to hurt me? Do you really want to make me cry?” Joel and Nate got a good laugh out of it. But at nine today, we went to Elmina Castle, which was a slave portage. It was cool to walk through the castle, at the same time nice. It was cool walking around where they kept the slaves. Then we drove downtown in Cape Coast. The drivers I think are nuts for how they drive. I don’t think I can handle driving in Ghana. Not with Bertha in these streets. Then it was lunch. Then read the bible and read “Boy Meets Girl.” Then supper… That’s the day in a nutshell... But I should get to bed. Goodnight and I’m out. Stay classy.

Sunday, May 25th, 2008—Day 7

Didn’t have much planned for today. Just went to church today and rest of the day was a relax day. Church was fun. Their worship songs were different from the worship songs from the States, only in that they added some extra parts to few of the songs. But the worship time was very energetic. Wow! I’ve never experienced anything that I experienced today back in the States. The service was two hours. Our can was late, so we didn’t get much of a chance to see the whole thing, but I think they do a good hour of worship, then about 30-45 minutes of the sermon, then the last part was worship again. It would be awesome to be at the whole service next week to know what they fully do. We were supposed to go to the each today, but it rained. So we didn’t. Tired to take a two hour nap today, but didn’t fall asleep. What a surprise. But the rest was nice. Got some quiet time in, then read some more of “Boy Meets Girl,” wrote out “Eight Long Days,” now writing this. It must be around 3pm here in Cape Coast, which would put being at home around 10am. It will be hard getting used to bring in Central Time again. Plane gets in at 10:20 or so on June 10th, so probably wont get home ‘til midnight, earliest, which would put my body to 5am to the time zone I’m currently in. Sounds like here in a little bit Blake’s gonna get his hair cut. He’ll look super different with short hair, but he wants to get it for he’ll be cooler during the day. Don’t blame him for that. But, yeah, wrote “Eight Long Days” today. It seems like that. Fun eight days, may I say, but long. Tomorrow’s gonna bring the “Love, Sex, and Lasting Relationships” movie at 9am and Nate and I are gonna talk to two guys afterwards. One guy has more questions about Christ. Will let you know tomorrow how that goes… But gonna rap this up. Gonna read more, walk with Blake and Jake to get Blake’s hair cut, dinner, who know’s what but God, then bed time. But for now, good afternoon.
Before to bed, Blake did get his hair cut, and he looks different, and really good. But, goodnight!
